For over the past decade, Michael Maloney has catalogued and appraised 20th and 21st century paintings, drawings, sculpture, prints and photographs for private collectors, museums and artists’ estates.
I take pride in providing clients with professional, thoroughly researched reports which are compiled in accordance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and IRS guidelines.
I value individual items and art collections for clients seeking to obtain insurance coverage. Since all clients and policies are different, part of my service is to tailor a program to suit the needs of each individual. I provide complete or partial inventories in a variety of formats, from museum quality cataloguing to basic schedules, to suit any budget.
My appraisals are unique to the industry, with each work of art represented by a photograph and all pertinent information relating to the item; artist name, title, medium, size and notations of signature locations, as well as provenance (the history of ownership), any exhibition history and a current fair market value, one item per page. In the end, the appraisal functions very much like a catalogue of the collection.
Charitable Donations:
I provide donation appraisals for tax purposes and sign the 8283 forms to substantiate the fair market value of your property. All appraisals are constructed in accordance with IRS guidelines and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
